Dear fellow believer let us look at Bible verses about herbs.

KJV - King James Version
BBE - Bible in Basic English (1949/1964)
GW - GOD'S WORD Translation
AMP - Amplified Bible

Exodus 12:8:

KJV And they shall eat the flesh in that night, roast with fire, and unleavened bread; and with bitter herbs they shall eat it.
BBE And let your food that night be the flesh of the lamb, cooked with fire in the oven, together with unleavened bread and bitter-tasting plants.
GW The meat must be eaten that same night. It must be roasted over a fire and eaten with bitter herbs and unleavened bread.
AMP They shall eat the flesh that night roasted; with unleavened bread and bitter herbs they shall eat it.

II Kings 4:39:

KJV And one went out into the field to gather herbs, and found a wild vine, and gathered thereof wild gourds his lap full, and came and shred them into the pot of pottage: for they knew them not.
BBE And one went out into the field to get green plants and saw a vine of the field, and pulling off the fruit of it till the fold of his robe was full, he came back and put the fruit, cut up small, into the pot of soup, having no idea what it was.
GW One of them went into the field to gather vegetables and found a wild vine. He filled his clothes with wild gourds. Then he cut them into the pot of stew without knowing what they were.
AMP Then one went into the field to gather herbs and gathered from a wild vine his lap full of wild gourds, and returned and cut them up into the pot of pottage, for they were unknown to them.

Proverbs 15:17:

KJV Better is a dinner of herbs where love is, than a stalled ox and hatred therewith.
BBE Better is a simple meal where love is, than a fat ox and hate with it.
GW Better to have a dish of vegetables where there is love than juicy steaks where there is hate.
AMP Better is a dinner of herbs where love is than a fatted ox and hatred with it.

Matthew 13:32: (a mustard seed)

KJV "Which indeed is the least of all seeds: but when it is grown, it is the greatest among herbs, and becometh a tree, so that the birds of the air come and lodge in the branches thereof."
BBE Which is smaller than all seeds; but when it has come up it is greater than the plants, and becomes a tree, so that the birds of heaven come and make their resting-places in its branches.
GW It's one of the smallest seeds. However, when it has grown, it is taller than the garden plants. It becomes a tree that is large enough for birds to nest in its branches."
AMP Of all the seeds it is the smallest, but when it has grown it is the largest of the garden herbs and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and find shelter in its branches.

Luke 11:42:

KJV "But woe unto you, Pharisees! for ye tithe mint and rue and all manner of herbs, and pass over judgment and the love of God: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone."
BBE But a curse is on you, Pharisees! for you make men give a tenth of every sort of plant, and give no thought to right and the love of God; but it is right for you to do these things, and not let the others be undone.
GW "How horrible it will be for you Pharisees! You give [God] one-tenth of your mint, spices, and every garden herb. But you have ignored justice and the love of God. You should have done these things without ignoring the others.
AMP But woe to you, Pharisees! For you tithe mint and rue and every [little] herb, but disregard {and} neglect justice and the love of God. These you ought to have done without leaving the others undone.

Romans 14:2:

KJV For one believeth that he may eat all things: another, who is weak, eateth herbs.
BBE One man has faith to take all things as food: another who is feeble in faith takes only green food.
GW Some people believe that they can eat all kinds of food. Other people with weak faith believe that they can eat only vegetables.
AMP One [man's faith permits him to] believe he may eat anything, while a weaker one [limits his] eating to vegetables.

Looking at these verse we see that herbs were commonly used in the time of the Bible. Glad to say it didn't change and neither did God. He is the same, yesterday, today and tomorrow.
