Dear fellow believer. We are now going to find Bible verses about love. The New Testament I would say is the greatest love letter ever written. Let us see what God has written in His word about love.

AKJV - American King James Version
BBE - Bible in Basic English (1949/1964)
GW - GOD'S WORD Translation
AMP - Amplified Bible

Exodus 20:6:

AKJV And showing mercy to thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.
BBE And I will have mercy through a thousand generations on those who have love for me and keep my laws.
GW But I show mercy to thousands of generations of those who love me and obey my commandments.
AMP But showing mercy {and} steadfast love to a thousand generations of those who love Me and keep My commandments.

Deuteronomy 6:5:

AKJV And you shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your might.
BBE And the Lord your God is to be loved with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.
GW Love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength.
AMP And you shall love the Lord your God with all your [mind and] heart and with your entire being and with all your might.

Psalms 31:23:

AKJV O love the LORD, all you his saints: for the LORD preserves the faithful, and plentifully rewards the proud doer.
BBE O have love for the Lord, all you his saints; for the Lord keeps safe from danger all those who are true to him, and gives the workers of pride their right reward.
GW Love the LORD, all you godly ones! The LORD protects faithful people, but he pays back in full those who act arrogantly.
AMP O love the Lord, all you His saints! The Lord preserves the faithful, and plentifully pays back him who deals haughtily.

Psalms 91:14:

AKJV Because he has set his love on me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he has known my name.
BBE Because he has given me his love, I will take him out of danger: I will put him in a place of honour, because he has kept my name in his heart.
GW Because you love me, I will rescue you. I will protect you because you know my name.
AMP Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore will I deliver him; I will set him on high, because he knows {and} understands My name [has a personal knowledge of My mercy, love, and kindness--trusts and relies on Me, knowing I will never forsake him, no, never].

Proverbs 15:17:

AKJV Better is a dinner of herbs where love is, than a stalled ox and hatred therewith.
BBE Better is a simple meal where love is, than a fat ox and hate with it.
GW Better to have a dish of vegetables where there is love than juicy steaks where there is hate.
AMP Better is a dinner of herbs where love is than a fatted ox and hatred with it.

Matthew 5:44:

AKJV But I say to you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which spitefully use you, and persecute you;
BBE But I say to you, Have love for those who are against you, and make prayer for those who are cruel to you;
GW But I tell you this: Love your enemies, and pray for those who persecute you.
AMP But I tell you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,

Luke 6:32:

AKJV For if you love them which love you, what thank have you? for sinners also love those that love them.
BBE If you have love for those who have love for you, what credit is it to you? for even sinners have love for those who have love for them.
GW If you love those who love you, do you deserve any thanks for that? Even sinners love those who love them.
AMP If you [merely] love those who love you, what quality of credit {and} thanks is that to you? For even the [very] sinners love their lovers (those who love them).

John 3:16:

AKJV For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
BBE For God had such love for the world that he gave his only Son, so that whoever has faith in him may not come to destruction but have eternal life.
GW God loved the world this way: He gave his only Son so that everyone who believes in him will not die but will have eternal life.
AMP For God so greatly loved {and} dearly prized the world that He [even] gave up His only begotten (unique) Son, so that whoever believes in (trusts in, clings to, relies on) Him shall not perish (come to destruction, be lost) but have eternal (everlasting) life.

John 13:34:

AKJV A new commandment I give to you, That you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another.
BBE I give you a new law: Have love one for another; even as I have had love for you, so are you to have love one for another.
GW "I'm giving you a new commandment: Love each other in the same way that I have loved you.
AMP I give you a new commandment: that you should love one another. Just as I have loved you, so you too should love one another.

John 14:21:

AKJV He that has my commandments, and keeps them, he it is that loves me: and he that loves me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.
BBE He who has my laws and keeps them, he it is who has love for me: and he who has love for me will be loved by my Father, and I will have love for him and will let myself be seen clearly by him.
GW Whoever knows and obeys my commandments is the person who loves me. Those who love me will have my Father's love, and I, too, will love them and show myself to them."
AMP The person who has My commands and keeps them is the one who [really] loves Me; and whoever [really] loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I [too] will love him and will show (reveal, manifest) Myself to him. [I will let Myself be clearly seen by him and make Myself real to him.]

John 15:13:

AKJV Greater love has no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
BBE Greater love has no man than this, that a man gives up his life for his friends.
GW The greatest love you can show is to give your life for your friends.
AMP No one has greater love [no one has shown stronger affection] than to lay down (give up) his own life for his friends.

Romans 5:8:

AKJV But God commends his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
BBE But God has made clear his love to us, in that, when we were still sinners, Christ gave his life for us.
GW Christ died for us while we were still sinners. This demonstrates God's love for us.
AMP But God shows {and} clearly proves His [own] love for us by the fact that while we were still sinners, Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One) died for us.

Romans 13:9:

AKJV For this, You shall not commit adultery, You shall not kill, You shall not steal, You shall not bear false witness, You shall not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, You shall love your neighbor as yourself.
BBE And this, Do not be untrue in married life, Do not put to death, Do not take what is another's, Do not have desire for what is another's, and if there is any other order, it is covered by this word, Have love for your neighbour as for yourself.
GW The commandments, "Never commit adultery; never murder; never steal; never have wrong desires," and every other commandment are summed up in this statement: "Love your neighbor as you love yourself."
AMP The commandments, You shall not commit adultery, You shall not kill, You shall not steal, You shall not covet (have an evil desire), and any other commandment, are summed up in the single command, You shall love your neighbor as [you do] yourself.

I Corinthians 13:4:

AKJV Charity suffers long, and is kind; charity envies not; charity braggs not itself, is not puffed up,
BBE Love is never tired of waiting; love is kind; love has no envy; love has no high opinion of itself, love has no pride;
GW Love is patient. Love is kind. Love isn't jealous. It doesn't sing its own praises. It isn't arrogant.
AMP Love endures long {and} is patient and kind; love never is envious {nor} boils over with jealousy, is not boastful {or} vainglorious, does not display itself haughtily.

Ephesians 5:2:

AKJV And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us, and has given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet smelling smell.
BBE And be living in love, even as Christ had love for you, and gave himself up for us, an offering to God for a perfume of a sweet smell.
GW Live in love as Christ also loved us. He gave his life for us as an offering and sacrifice, a soothing aroma to God.
AMP And walk in love, [esteeming and delighting in one another] as Christ loved us and gave Himself up for us, a slain offering and sacrifice to God [for you, so that it became] a sweet fragrance.

I John 3:1:

AKJV Behold, what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knows us not, because it knew him not.
BBE See what great love the Father has given us in naming us the children of God; and such we are. For this reason the world does not see who we are, because it did not see who he was.
GW Consider this: The Father has given us his love. He loves us so much that we are actually called God's dear children. And that's what we are. For this reason the world doesn't recognize us, and it didn't recognize him either.
AMP SEE WHAT [an incredible] quality of love the Father has given (shown, bestowed on) us, that we should [be permitted to] be named {and} called {and} counted the children of God! And so we are! The reason that the world does not know (recognize, acknowledge) us is that it does not know (recognize, acknowledge) Him.

I John 4:9:

AKJV In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.
BBE And the love of God was made clear to us when he sent his only Son into the world so that we might have life through him.
GW God has shown us his love by sending his only Son into the world so that we could have life through him.
AMP In this the love of God was made manifest (displayed) where we are concerned: in that God sent His Son, the only begotten {or} unique [Son], into the world so that we might live through Him.

I John 4:8:

AKJV He that loves not knows not God; for God is love.
BBE He who has no love has no knowledge of God, because God is love.
GW The person who doesn't love doesn't know God, because God is love.
AMP He who does not love has not become acquainted with God [does not and never did know Him], for God is love.

From these verses we can see that God made love a beautiful thing. Isn't it wonderful to love someone? The most wonderful thing is that Christ loved us and gave his life for us when we were still sinners. Now if that isn't the greatest love of all, I don't know what is. May the love of Christ fill you and may we all love our neighbors with the love of Christ Jesus.
