Dear fellow believer let us see what the Bible says about life guidance for children.

KJV - King James Version
BBE - Bible in Basic English (1949/1964)
GW - GOD'S WORD Translation
AMP - Amplified Bible

Psalms 103:17:

KJV But the mercy of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting upon them that fear him, and his righteousness unto children' children;
BBE But the mercy of the Lord is eternal for his worshippers, and their children's children will see his righteousness;
GW But from everlasting to everlasting, the LORD's mercy is on those who fear him. His righteousness belongs to their children and grandchildren,
AMP But the mercy {and} loving-kindness of the Lord are from everlasting to everlasting upon those who reverently {and} worshipfully fear Him, and His righteousness is to children's children--

Matthew 19:14:

KJV But Jesus said, "Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven."
BBE But Jesus said, Let the little ones come to me, and do not keep them away: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.
GW Jesus said, "Don't stop children from coming to me! Children like these are part of the kingdom of God."
AMP But He said, Leave the children alone! Allow the little ones to come to Me, and do not forbid {or} restrain {or} hinder them, for of such [as these] is the kingdom of heaven {composed}.

I John 3:7:

KJV Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.
BBE My little children, let no man take you out of the true way: he who does righteousness is upright, even as he is upright;
GW Dear children, don't let anyone deceive you. Whoever does what God approves of has God's approval as Christ has God's approval.
AMP Boys (lads), let no one deceive {and} lead you astray. He who practices righteousness [who is upright, conforming to the divine will in purpose, thought, and action, living a consistently conscientious life] is righteous, even as He is righteous.

I John 3:10:

KJV In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.
BBE In this way it is clear who are the children of God and who are the children of the Evil One; anyone who does not do righteousness or who has no love for his brother, is not a child of God.
GW This is the way God's children are distinguished from the devil's children. Everyone who doesn't do what is right or love other believers isn't God's child.
AMP By this it is made clear who take their nature from God {and} are His children and who take their nature from the devil {and} are his children: no one who does not practice righteousness [who does not conform to God's will in purpose, thought, and action] is of God; neither is anyone who does not love his brother (his fellow believer in Christ).

I John 3:18:

KJV My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.
BBE My little children, do not let our love be in word and in tongue, but let it be in act and in good faith.
GW Dear children, we must show love through actions that are sincere, not through empty words.
AMP Little children, let us not love [merely] in theory {or} in speech but in deed and in truth (in practice and in sincerity).

I John 5:21:

KJV Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen.
BBE My little children, keep yourselves from false gods.
GW Dear children, guard yourselves from false gods.
AMP Little children, keep yourselves from idols (false gods)--[from anything and everything that would occupy the place in your heart due to God, from any sort of substitute for Him that would take first place in your life]. {Amen (so let it be).}

Ephesians 6:1-3

KJV Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right. Honour thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise;) That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.
BBE Children, do what is ordered by your fathers and mothers in the Lord: for this is right. Give honour to your father and mother (which is the first rule having a reward), So that all may be well for you, and your life may be long on the earth.
GW Children, obey your parents because you are Christians. This is the right thing to do. "Honor your father and mother that everything may go well for you, and you may have a long life on earth." This is an important commandment with a promise.
AMP CHILDREN, OBEY your parents in the Lord [as His representatives], for this is just and right. Honor (esteem and value as precious) your father and your mother--this is the first commandment with a promise-- That all may be well with you and that you may live long on the earth.

Colossians 3:20:

KJV Children, obey your parents in all things: for this is well pleasing unto the Lord.
BBE Children, do the orders of your fathers and mothers in all things, for this is pleasing to the Lord.
GW Children, always obey your parents. This is pleasing to the Lord.
AMP Children, obey your parents in everything, for this is pleasing to the Lord.

I John 2:28:

KJV And now, little children, abide in him; that, when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming.
BBE And now, my children, keep your hearts in him; so that at his revelation, we may have no fear or shame before him at his coming.
GW Now, dear children, live in Christ. Then, when he appears we will have confidence, and when he comes we won't turn from him in shame.
AMP And now, little children, abide (live, remain permanently) in Him, so that when He is made visible, we may have {and} enjoy perfect confidence (boldness, assurance) and not be ashamed {and} shrink from Him at His coming.

Looking at these verses we see that God wants children to stay away from sin and follow Him. But one of the most prominent guidelines is: "Children, obey your parents in the Lord". Let's think about this because it holds a promise: "That all may be well with you and that you may live long on the earth".
