Dear fellow believer let us see what the Bible says about forgiveness.

KJV - King James Version
BBE - Bible in Basic English (1949/1964)
GW - GOD'S WORD Translation
AMP - Amplified Bible

Matthew 6:14:

KJV "For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:"
BBE For if you let men have forgiveness for their sins, you will have forgiveness from your Father in heaven.
GW "If you forgive the failures of others, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.
AMP For if you forgive people their trespasses [their reckless and willful sins, leaving them, letting them go, and giving up resentment], your heavenly Father will also forgive you.

Matthew 6:15:

KJV "But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
BBE But if you do not let men have forgiveness for their sins, you will not have forgiveness from your Father for your sins.
GW But if you don't forgive others, your Father will not forgive your failures.
AMP But if you do not forgive others their trespasses [their reckless and willful sins, leaving them, letting them go, and giving up resentment], neither will your Father forgive you your trespasses.

Matthew 12:31:

KJV "Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men. "
BBE So I say to you, Every sin and every evil word against God will have forgiveness; but for evil words against the Spirit there will be no forgiveness.
GW So I can guarantee that people will be forgiven for any sin or cursing. However, cursing the Spirit will not be forgiven.
AMP Therefore I tell you, every sin and blasphemy (every evil, abusive, injurious speaking, or indignity against sacred things) can be forgiven men, but blasphemy against the [Holy] Spirit shall not {and} cannot be forgiven.

Mark 11:25:

KJV "And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses. "
BBE And whenever you make a prayer, let there be forgiveness in your hearts, if you have anything against anyone; so that you may have forgiveness for your sins from your Father who is in heaven.
GW Whenever you pray, forgive anything you have against anyone. Then your Father in heaven will forgive your failures."
AMP And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him {and} let it drop (leave it, let it go), in order that your Father Who is in heaven may also forgive you your [own] failings {and} shortcomings {and} let them drop.

Luke 5:20:

KJV And when he saw their faith, he said unto him, "Man, thy sins are forgiven thee."
BBE And seeing their faith he said, Man, you have forgiveness for your sins.
GW When Jesus saw their faith, he said, "Sir, your sins are forgiven."
AMP And when He saw [their confidence in Him, springing from] their faith, He said, Man, your sins are forgiven you!

Luke 6:37:

KJV "Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven:"
BBE Be not judges of others, and you will not be judged: do not give punishment to others, and you will not get punishment yourselves: make others free, and you will be made free:
GW "Stop judging, and you will never be judged. Stop condemning, and you will never be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven.
AMP Judge not [neither pronouncing judgment nor subjecting to censure], and you will not be judged; do not condemn {and} pronounce guilty, and you will not be condemned {and} pronounced guilty; acquit {and} forgive {and} release (give up resentment, let it drop), and you will be acquitted {and} forgiven {and} released.

Romans 4:7:

KJV Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered.
BBE Happy are those who have forgiveness for their wrongdoing, and whose sins are covered.
GW "Blessed are those whose disobedience is forgiven and whose sins are pardoned.
AMP Blessed {and} happy {and} to be envied are those whose iniquities are forgiven and whose sins are covered up {and} completely buried.

Ephesians 1:7:

KJV In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;
BBE In whom we have salvation through his blood, the forgiveness of our sins, through the wealth of his grace,
GW Through the blood of his Son, we are set free from our sins. God forgives our failures because of his overflowing kindness.
AMP In Him we have redemption (deliverance and salvation) through His blood, the remission (forgiveness) of our offenses (shortcomings and trespasses), in accordance with the riches {and} the generosity of His gracious favor,

Ephesians 4:32:

KJV And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.
BBE And be kind to one another, full of pity, having forgiveness for one another, even as God in Christ had forgiveness for you.
GW Be kind to each other, sympathetic, forgiving each other as God has forgiven you through Christ.
AMP And become useful {and} helpful {and} kind to one another, tenderhearted (compassionate, understanding, loving-hearted), forgiving one another [readily and freely], as God in Christ forgave you.

James 5:15:

KJV And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.
BBE And by the prayer of faith the man who is ill will be made well, and he will be lifted up by the Lord, and for any sin which he has done he will have forgiveness.
GW (Prayers offered in faith will save those who are sick, and the Lord will cure them.) If you have sinned, you will be forgiven.
AMP And the prayer [that is] of faith will save him who is sick, and the Lord will restore him; and if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.

I John 1:9:

KJV If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
BBE If we say openly that we have done wrong, he is upright and true to his word, giving us forgiveness of sins and making us clean from all evil.
GW God is faithful and reliable. If we confess our sins, he forgives them and cleanses us from everything we've done wrong.
AMP If we [freely] admit that we have sinned {and} confess our sins, He is faithful and just (true to His own nature and promises) and will forgive our sins [dismiss our lawlessness] and [continuously] cleanse us from all unrighteousness [everything not in conformity to His will in purpose, thought, and action].

Looking at these verses, we see that God wants His children to forgive people their wreckless and willful sins against them. Then God will forgive us our sin. In addition, if we forgive a person then God will forgive that person.
