Dear fellow believer let us see what the Bible tells us about thankfulness the giving of thanks.

KJV - King James Version
BBE - Bible in Basic English (1949/1964)
GW - GOD'S WORD Translation
AMP - Amplified Bible

Ephesians 5:4:

KJV Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks.
BBE And let there be no low behaviour, or foolish talk, or words said in sport, which are not right, but in place of them the giving of praise.
GW It's not right that dirty stories, foolish talk, or obscene jokes should be mentioned among you either. Instead, give thanks [to God].
AMP Let there be no filthiness (obscenity, indecency) nor foolish {and} sinful (silly and corrupt) talk, nor coarse jesting, which are not fitting {or} becoming; but instead voice your thankfulness [to God].

Psalms 100:4:

KJV Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.
BBE Come into his doors with joy, and into his house with praise; give him honour, blessing his name.
GW Enter his gates with a song of thanksgiving. Come into his courtyards with a song of praise. Give thanks to him; praise his name.
AMP Enter into His gates with thanksgiving {and} a thank offering and into His courts with praise! Be thankful {and} say so to Him, bless {and} affectionately praise His name!

Colossians 3:15:

KJV And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.
BBE And let the peace of Christ be ruling in your hearts, as it was the purpose of God for you to be one body; and give praise to God at all times.
GW Also, let Christ's peace control you. God has called you into this peace by bringing you into one body. Be thankful.
AMP And let the peace (soul harmony which comes) from Christ rule (act as umpire continually) in your hearts [deciding and settling with finality all questions that arise in your minds, in that peaceful state] to which as [members of Christ's] one body you were also called [to live]. And be thankful (appreciative), [giving praise to God always].

I Chronicles 16:34:

KJV O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever.
BBE O give praise to the Lord, for he is good: for his mercy is unchanging for ever.
GW Give thanks to the LORD because he is good, because his mercy endures forever.
AMP O give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; for His mercy {and} loving-kindness endure forever!

Psalms 28:7:

KJV The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him.
BBE The Lord is my strength and my breastplate, my heart had faith in him and I am helped; for this cause my heart is full of rapture, and I will give him praise in my song.
GW The LORD is my strength and my shield. My heart trusted him, so I received help. My heart is triumphant; I give thanks to him with my song.
AMP The Lord is my Strength and my [impenetrable] Shield; my heart trusts in, relies on, {and} confidently leans on Him, and I am helped; therefore my heart greatly rejoices, and with my song will I praise Him.

Psalms 50:23:

KJV Whoso offereth praise glorifieth me: and to him that ordereth his conversation aright will I shew the salvation of God.
BBE Whoever makes an offering of praise gives glory to me; and to him who is upright in his ways I will make clear the salvation of God.
GW Whoever offers thanks as a sacrifice honors me. I will let everyone who continues in my way see the salvation that comes from God."
AMP He who brings an offering of praise {and} thanksgiving honors {and} glorifies Me; and he who orders his way aright [who prepares the way that I may show him], to him I will demonstrate the salvation of God.

Looking at these verses we see that we must be thankful towards everyone, but above all towards God. Remember we enter into God's presence by giving thanks to Him.
